This cover illustration is the center section from the double-spread on the rise of urbanization after World War I.

The cityscape is a composite of various elements I collected in my research. Among those whose source I can still remember: the green trolley (from Milan), and the brownish building on the right (based, with many changes, on a photograph of Tokyo).

There is a little game for the viewer to play: which film could be showing in the theater on the right? The last four letters ('RANCE') are already on the marquee... D.W. Griffith's Intolerance would fit in--if the townsfolk spoke English. For Francophones, of course, it would have to spell 'France'. Any other suggestions?.

Other details you can look for include: a (definitely non-fatal) traffic accident, someone who might be late for work, migrating birds, and an accordion player.
