These books relate the early history of mankind's expanding knowledge about the cosmos; segue into a presentation of modern astronomers and their theories concerning celestial bodies; and finally attempts a conjectural history of the universe since its inception, based on the opinions of contemporary scientists. This wide range of subjects called for stringent accuracy in the presentation of scientific facts and hypotheses, and for lively depictions of historical events.
