This is the only book cover for which I drew a separate picture, instead of re-using details from illustrations inside the book. The topic was unified enough--a single unbroken narrative--that I could attempt encapsulating the broad outlines of the whole story within a single image.

'The Creation', ill. by Sandro Corsi
From Creation to Deluge
The Bible and its Story
From top to bottom, we see:

The primordial dark nothingness gradually acquiring an organized structure, which culminates with the ignition of the stars. Light and dark now stand apart.

The waters condensing and lapping against textured soil. The plants take root in the soil and gradually unfold to cover the earth.

The stuff the stars are made of gradually drifting to the ground--yielding the three animal cohorts: of the sea, of the air, of the land. A bright flash slashes across the canvas--separating creation from history, and spotlighting the crown of the former and motor of the latter: humankind.

Human events proceding towards strife and violence. The sky darkens, and finally erupts in an all-encompassing flood.
